Lee Tamahori / Paramount Pictures
Kyle Cooper conceived of a clever typographic pun for the main title sequence in Lee Tamahori’s Along Came a Spider, starring Morgan Freeman. As the credits fade up, individual letterforms exhibit spider-like behavior as they descend from the top of the frame as if suspended by a single strand of web. This typographic conceit is intercut with distorted colors and images, eventually revealed to be the opening scene of the film in which the police are monitoring a suspect through video surveillance. The credits continue to roll over live-action as the police close in.
