The creators of Black Box were intrigued by hypothetical “black boxes,” objects that can be measured, but not necessarily understood (for example: the human brain). The series focused around a bi-polar neurosurgeon who tried to help others with their conditions while dealing with her own. In wanting to stylistically depict the complexities of the brain Prologue chose to visualize the concept of the show by showing various physical ‘black boxes’ wrapped within neuron networks. As we travel through the boxes we’re flooded with different imagery like thoughts flooding our brains – memories from the show, artwork, brain scans, even the main character herself. For the final lock-up we reveal the logo in a mass of tiny twinkling black boxes.
