END TITLE | MAIN TITLE
The Raven, starring John Cusack, details the mysterious last days of Edgar Allen Poe. Prologue created the main title as well as the main on end sequence for this gripping tale. To convey Poe’s emotionally fragmented state of mind, our piece is crafted with the look and feel of splintering shards of glass. We set the stage for this effect with a breaking glass sound cue to open the main on end sequence and, from there, push and abstract the shape of a 3D-animated raven until barely recognizable. Through meticulous editing, featuring momentary on-screen flashes of ravens in part or as a whole, we see these abstract designs take form and give way to the image of a stylized raven halfway through the piece. As we close in on the raven’s wings, they become sharp, shifting blades which morph into various shapes and 3D forms— a visual representation of Poe’s chaotic life and psyche.
