Prologue directed the second unit camera on location in Hawaii and created all the visual effects including the metamorphosis of the character of Ariel, ranging from a black-winged harpie, to a fluid humanoid shape made from swarming bees, to elemental distortions incorporating light, water and fire. Each scene brings something new, from quiet, poetic moments to a cacophony of relentless action, to comic relief, to subtle alterations in the environment. For the end titles, Prologue directed an underwater shoot, filming Prospera’s books, thrown into the ocean and slowly sinking down into a dark, watery void.

"...the visual effects work led by Kyle Cooper sets off fantasies rich and strange. Most of these involve Ariel, who gets star billing with his delicate way of speeding through the sky, leaving a trail of afterimages, and channeling natural forces to do Prospera's bidding. His transformation into a frightful Harpy tormenting the foolish nobles is a very effective scene."

− Deborah Young, The Hollywood Reporter

"Visual Effects by Kyle Cooper accentuate the beautiful fantasy of the film. Most fantasies involve Ariel. It accelerates smoothly through the air, making a rustling after-image, and it also helps to channel the forces of nature to Prospera."
