Similar to the font of arcade game logos, these credits appear in the computerized environment of a galactic space game as the camera drifts through the ‘blueprint’ of this digital world.

Joseph Kosinski / Walt Disney

STUDIO LOGO | VFX | END TITLE

Prologue created a re-imagined version of the Disney logo, a film prologue, and an end credit sequence for Joseph Kosinski’s Tron Legacy. We were tasked with updating the original Disney logo to suit the film. After several design iterations, we delivered a version that stayed true to the spirit of the traditional logo while updating it with a very “Tron” look and feel, which Disney approved. We filmed an array of television sets for the film’s prologue, each displaying newscasts we created with live-action footage on the topic of Bridges’ character Kevin Flynn. To capture authentic-looking 80s video, we turned off our usual video plug-in effects and filmed with actual video cameras from that era.For the end titles, Prologue created detailed animations to sync with the iconic Daft Punk score, a sequence that took up over 30,000 layers in AfterEffects. The cast, crew, and production credits are displayed with a typography and background that resembles a circuit board lighting up. This reaches a crescendo in our treatment of the Tron logo, which we enshrined in additional graphic detail and digital circuitry. The intended effect is to ground the logo in the geographic center of the end sequence’s animation, thus placing the viewer in the very core of the Tron grid.

"We begin, naturally, with the Disney logo, familiar enough you would think. But not like this. In simple terms, it's been Tron-ified, made up of hundreds of white streaks on a digital background, the light almost dazzling us, the 3D swooping camera impressing. No wonder several people in the audience begin to whoop and cheer! A promising start indeed.."

"The Tron: Legacy trailer opens with the traditional view of the studio’s logo — an image of Cinderella’s Castle from Disneyland — except altered tastefully with an effect resembling scan lines."

− Gus Mastrapa, Wired.com

"Firstly, the title sequence and Tron-styled Disney logo are the most breathtaking 3D I’ve ever seen."

"Once you see the Walt Disney logo emblazoned in not only 3D but in the Tron light/minimalist fashion, you won’t dare remove your glasses!"
